The setup
A wife who has been cheating on her billionaire husband tries to catch him out by hiring a stunning masseuse to seduce him. The twist is in the second half of the synopsis: the husband is one step ahead. Every stolen moment with the masseuse is part of his payback, a trap built to take away everything his wife has.
Why it stands out
This is one of the few Candy series whose premise reads like a thriller. There is a plan, a counter-plan and a clear loser in waiting, and the roles of who is trapping whom are reversed before the story even starts. Most five-parters give you a situation. Honey Trap in Silk gives you a scheme, and that is a real difference.
- Three characters with agendas. The wife, the husband and the masseuse each have a part in the plot, even if the synopsis leaves the masseuse’s own motives open.
- Revenge as structure. The husband’s plan gives the series a direction and, presumably, a payoff at the end.
- Money at stake. A billionaire’s fortune raises the stakes beyond hurt feelings.
The one thing to keep in mind is length. Five episodes is not much room for a double-cross, so expect a compact version of the idea rather than an intricate plot.
