What the story is
You are the new rookie on a professional football team. The coach is harder on you than on anyone else in the locker room, and she is not just any coach: she is a cool, severe woman whose husband owns the entire franchise. Then she singles you out. That is the whole of the official setup, and it is told in the second person, so the series casts the viewer as the rookie.
Why it is worth a look
The stakes are the strongest part. A rookie has everything to lose, the coach controls his place on the roster and her husband signs the checks. That gives the premise a layer of career risk on top of the affair, which most Candy five-parters do not bother with. The coach’s cold, demanding manner also sets up a power reversal that is easy to picture without the synopsis spelling it out.
The sports setting is a change of scenery too. The catalogue leans heavily on houses, hotels and family gatherings; a pro team’s training facility is a fresher backdrop.
