The hook

Owen takes a single pill and suddenly has X-ray vision for every woman on campus, with one exception: Dr. Larrea. She is running the study, and her husband is the man who gave Owen the drug. She sets out to test him in her husband’s lab, and Owen has ten days before the effect burns out his eyes.

Why it is fun on paper

It is a comic-book premise played for adults, and it is refreshingly silly compared with the family dramas that fill the catalogue. The one woman he cannot see through is the smartest move in the pitch: it turns a gimmick into a puzzle and gives the story a focus. A ticking clock of ten days and a husband who is responsible for the whole experiment add stakes and a villain in the background. Setting it on a campus, inside a research study, also gives the story a reason to exist beyond the gimmick, with Dr. Larrea as both the scientist in charge and the one person he cannot read.

Our doubts

A gimmick like this can wear thin, and five episodes is either just right or not enough, depending on how much of the mystery gets resolved. The synopsis also leaves Owen as a blank beyond his new ability. Candy has not tagged the series, and we have not rated it on our explicitness scale yet, so the tone is hard to predict from the listing alone.

Cost to finish

Episodes 1 and 2 are free, which should be enough to see how the premise is handled. Episodes 3, 4 and 5 are locked at 12 tokens each, 36 tokens total, costing about $1.44 on the yearly plan, $3.24 on the quarterly plan or $5.04 on the monthly plan.

Nearby series

There is nothing quite like it in the catalogue. For other recent Candy originals at the same 36-token price, try My First Night Shift or Whatever Your Stepmom Says, which carries Mother and Taboo tags. Neither is rated on our scale yet. For series we rate highest, our best Candy AI Shorts list is the place to start.

Who should watch

  • Watch it if you like an outlandish premise, a countdown and a bit of humor.
  • Skip it if you prefer realistic scenarios, or want to know the explicitness level before spending tokens.

The verdict

I Can See Through Everyone But Her is the most playful concept in its price range, with a clever exception at its heart and a deadline to keep it moving. It is a gamble on tone, but at the standard 36 tokens it is an easy one to take.

How many episodes does it have, and are any free?

Five episodes. Episodes 1 and 2 are free and let you judge the setup, and the remaining three are locked at 12 tokens each.

Where can I watch I Can See Through Everyone But Her in full?

Only on Candy, where the full series costs 36 tokens, about $1.44 on the yearly plan. Our guide to leaks explains why full copies posted elsewhere rarely are.

Why can't Owen see through Dr. Larrea?

The synopsis does not explain it, and that is the central mystery. She runs the study and is married to the man who gave him the pill, which suggests the answer is tied to the experiment.
