What the series sets up
Solene Yoon has no say in the matter: she is put under the watch of a bodyguard, an ex-military man with a cold manner and a job to do. Feelings neither of them should have start to grow. Two things stand in the way. His contract explicitly excludes anything physical, and her father keeps a constant eye on both of them. That is the whole of Candy’s synopsis.
The bodyguard trope, done straight
Protector-and-protected romance is a well-established genre, and this series leans into it without apology. The appeal is in the rules. A professional who is not allowed to cross a line, a client who may want him to, and a watchful father in the background give the story a slow-burn structure with obvious tension.
