The premise
The story is told to you, in the second person. You are the lowest recruit on a military base, at the bottom of every pecking order, until Sergeant Diana Demont pulls you out of the mud and decides you are hers. She is the commanding officer nobody touches, married to the colonel who runs the base and owns everything on it, and you turn out to be the only one who sees the woman underneath the uniform.
It is a power fantasy with two layers of forbidden: she outranks you, and she belongs to the man who outranks everyone. That double hierarchy gives the series more tension to work with than the usual one-situation premise.
What sets it apart
- The setting. The catalogue is dominated by houses, offices and holidays. A military base, with ranks and orders built into every scene, is rare.
- The length. It is one of only four series with 15 episodes, so the dynamic between recruit and sergeant has space to develop instead of being settled in three locked episodes.
- It is recent. YES MA’AM carries Candy’s New tag, one of ten series that currently do.
What you can judge for free
The first two episodes are free, and like every series on Candy they stay suggestive. They are enough to tell whether the premise works for you: whether Sergeant Demont is the kind of commanding presence the story needs, and whether the second-person framing draws you in. - Skip it if you want a quick, self-contained story, or if military role-play does nothing for you: the setting is not decoration here, it is the whole engine.
How it compares
YES MA’AM has relatives in the catalogue: a small family of authority-figure titles such as YES, DIRECTOR, Yes, Coach and Yes Professor, all standard five-parters at 36 tokens, rated between 3 and 4 out of 5. YES MA’AM is the pick for anyone who finds most Candy premises interchangeable. The military setting and the double hierarchy give it an identity of its own, and fifteen episodes let the power play build properly. At 156 tokens it asks for commitment, so let the two free episodes decide; if Sergeant Demont has your attention by the end of episode two, the rest is worth it.
