What the story is
Nina had a dinner planned with her husband, and at the last minute he calls it off. Instead of a night out she gets an empty evening in the house, with only her husband’s grown son for company. The synopsis is blunt about her mood: she is not planning to sulk, she is planning to get even.
That is the whole setup, and it is a familiar one on Candy, where stepfamily stories make up a large share of the catalogue. What gives this one a slightly different flavor is the motive. Nina is not lonely or bored so much as angry, and the series frames everything that follows as payback aimed at a husband who is not even in the room.
Why it works, and where it is thin
- A clear trigger. A cancelled date is a small, relatable slight, and it gives Nina a reason to act on the same evening rather than after weeks of buildup. For a five-parter, that speed is an asset.
- Revenge as the engine. Spite is a sharper motive than simple temptation, and it puts Nina firmly in charge of the story.
