The premise
Madison’s father is Dad’s oldest friend, and she is staying in the attic for a three-month exchange. The synopsis wastes no time: she and Ryan click immediately. Then the complication lands with a phone call. Ryan’s girlfriend is coming back the next day, and she sounds happy about it.
What makes it work
This is a simple setup with a useful engine: a deadline. The chemistry is established from the start, and the girlfriend’s call turns it from a slow-burn flirtation into a question of what happens before she walks through the door. That kind of pressure is what many five-parters lack, and it gives this one a clear shape.
The houseguest framing is also a nice touch. An exchange stay in the attic means Madison is under the same roof for the long haul, which raises the stakes of anything that happens between her and Ryan. The family connection through Dad adds a layer of awkwardness a stranger would not.
What it lacks
Candy lists no tags for it, and the synopsis stops at that phone call, so it is hard to know how the girlfriend’s return is handled. The characters are sketched rather than drawn: Madison is the newcomer, Ryan the torn host, the girlfriend a voice on the phone. If you want a richer cast, look elsewhere.
