The situation

There is the friendship he is betraying, the two women he is caught between, and a clear deadline in the friend’s return. The divorce detail is a small but useful piece of motivation, and it frames the mother as someone newly free rather than someone cheating.
The house-sitting setup also keeps things contained. Everything happens in someone else’s home, with the owner’s son due to walk back in, which is a tidy recipe for tension. It also gives the story a natural ending point, since the house-sitting job cannot last forever.

The best-friend’s-mom scenario is one of the most familiar in the catalogue, where 28 series carry the Milf tag. The second woman adds some variety, but the synopsis says little about her beyond her friendship with the mom.
