What the story is
An exclusive gala, a stepmom with no date and a husband who cannot leave the office. Her solution is to take her stepson instead, dressed in his father’s suit. The room reads them as a married couple, she plays along, and somewhere in the course of the night the pretense stops being pretense.
It is a tidy one-night structure. The whole series hangs on a single evening and a single misunderstanding that both of them choose not to correct, which suits the five-episode format well.
What it does well
- A clear engine. The mistaken-identity angle gives the story a reason to escalate: every guest who assumes they are married pushes the role-play a little further.
- A change of scenery. Most stepmom series in the catalogue stay inside the family home. A formal event with an audience is a different kind of pressure.

Where it is thinner
