Story
A clumsy accident throws a rebellious goth and her stepbrother together, and what follows is a secret romance that neither of them manages to contain. It keeps spiraling until their stepmom is drawn in as well, turning a forbidden pair into a triangle.
The synopsis gives it a proper arc: an accident, a secret, an escalation and a third person. That is more shape than many five-parters get, and it means the series has somewhere to go after the opening rather than repeating one situation. The stepmom’s arrival is the turn that gives the back end of the story its reason to exist.
What stands out
Two things. First, the goth angle. The title sells a character type rather than a setting, and a rebellious stepsister has more personality built in than the generic versions that fill the Sister tag. Second, the stepmom. Most stepsister stories keep things between two people; bringing in a third family member gives the later episodes somewhere to go.
What it does not have is anything unexpected in the setup itself. An accident that brings two people closer is a well-worn opener, and the series seems to rely on the characters rather than the situation.
